Merry Christmas, Nanny

Christmas was always so magical when you were around.  I remember how excited I was to show you all of my presents...and you were just as excited for EACH one.  I also remember how you would take us to J.C. Penny's to get clothes.  Don't worry, we were just as excited as you were.  We had so much fun picking out our new clothes with you.  I miss you so much. 

For this Christmas, I thought I'd share this picture I drew of you in 2001.  You, Mom, and I were driving home from Laughlin and the purple Saturn was overheating.  I can remember exactly where on the road we were.  We had just stopped for gas.  You had rolled napkins into the window to guard from the sun on your face.  It was SO HOT!  I was sitting in the back seat and I discretely sketched this of you.  I found it recently in an old notebook.  I love you so much and wish you were still here with us.

Oh Momma, How I wish you were here with me in Hawaii visiting our beautiful Lindsay Girl and her honey of a husband.  You would love it here and you would love him too.  He is a wonderful young man and is good to our Lindsay.  Miss you

Happy Birthday Nanny!

 

I hope you are hanging out with Ace today!

If I could, I would take you for huevos (or chicken livers if they were at the buffet). We would take a group picture of all of us together, with you in the middle wearing a huge birthday sombrero. Then we would go and see the latest movie with talking cats and dogs...I think a new one just came out! I would make a special Elvis mixtape to play in the car...and we would sing...man, would we sing, LOUDLY...with the windows down so all could hear!

No matter what else we did, I would make sure that we were all with you, all day. I know how important that was to you, and there is no greater present than presence. I love you, I miss you always.

Holiday Green Beans

There's no better place to be than Nanny's house...wish more than anything that I could go there tonight.
